ORISSA TOURISM NEWSLETTER - JANUARY - MARCH 2004

EDITORIAL

Orissa is at its elemental best with the onset of winter which is marked by multiplicity of festivities. Puri Beach Festival is underway and Konark festival (lst-5th Dec) is round the corner. The World Heritage Monument "Konark" is definitely the single most USP of Orissa Tourism attracting millions of tourists from remotest corners of the world. The nature treasure of Similipal and Bhitarkanika National Parks have just opened for the tourists. A trip to Chilika is worth rewarding if you are cruising towards New Mouth at Sipakuda, Nalban and Rajhans Island in the midst of cavorting Dolphins and migratory avian birds. There are many such enchanting destinations that await you eagerly.

Orissa -"The Soul of India" is rightly poised for a great leap. There is a surge in tourist arrival and the trend is upward now. Few projects like International Peace Park at Dhauli, Buddhist Circuit Development (Ratnagiri-Lalitgiri- Udayagiri- Langudi) and Rural Tourism at Raghurajpur and Pipli are on the pipeline to give a major boost to tourism activities in the State. Orissa (Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) with its accommodation and tour packages is geared up to meet the tourist boom. So are other hotels and tour operators waiting to welcome you. I am sure your visit to Orissa will be a pleasant sojourn. Touch Orissa to feel India.
